The Brooking goes to Venice
The 14th Architecture Biennale in Venice was launched in June 2014 with the Brooking
National Collection’s display on the history of windows at the heart of it, where
it was seen by over 200,000 people. This set of pages dedicated to the Brooking’s
contribution to the event contains galleries of pictures. There are links to some
of the internet material available on the News page.
Charles Brooking attended the very successful launch in June. A team of supporters
and sponsors went with him. They took some of the strain of dealing with the high
level of interest that his 'wall of windows' generated from across the globe.
Further pages:
“The Venice Display” features pictures of the display taken by Charles and his
team.
On “People & the Display” you can see how some visitors reacted to the Display (and
to Charles).
“Rem & the Display” shows something of Rem Koolhaas’s visits to the Display.
For a change, “Charles sees Venice” features some of the pictures that Charles Brooking
took while he was in Venice (when he found the time). Not surprisingly windows featured
highly in this.
You can also take a look at a video “Windows into Venice” on the Collection's preparations
for the event, and another in which Rem Koolhaas praises the contribution of the
Collection to the Biennale.
A Catalogue of the windows displayed is also available.
